Though it's not Christmas in July, it'll be winter in August at the High Line this weekend when Jaguar throws a Chill fest; head over for ice skating, snow, and a life-size snow globe. Then, get together for a spin on the carousel for a good cause at an Evening Carousel Ride to End Alzheimer's.
The Great Outdoors: Test your skills in the outdoors with a handful of free and low-cost activities like archery, fishing or salt-water fishing, and canoeing around Willowbrook Park's lakes or rivers and bays of Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Spare a couple days for an overnight camping adventure where you'll learn the history of a 19th-century barn, make colonial crafts, and more.
Learning Fun: Put on your thinking caps as you learn about the art and science of magnetic fields, and go on a space mission like real astronauts during a Rendezvous with a Comet. Travel back a few decades and watch living history on the Battlefield Lantern Walking Tour. Nature's Classroom: Discover art, music, and movement at the arboretum's outdoor classroom, or see what you can find hopping around at Family Pond Exploration. Learn how owls hunt, eat, and ingest their prey at Hoot Roots, and also take the family to the park to uncover and create art. Continue on to the Latino Cultural Festival for dance, film, music, and more, or check out the nationally acclaimed Double Dutch group, ride a water slide, and join in on the food taste-off at Wash Ave. Rocks. Center Stage: Attend the free Friday Family Jam Series as it pays tribute this week to Michael Jackson for Kids by Kids. Then see the family-favorite Wiggles Live in Concert, catch the kid-friendly cat at "Seussical," or watch the stage adaptation of 101 Dalmatians. See Below for: Latest posts on our new blog, our extensive guide to berry-picking farms near you, and what you should know before your kids head back to school. Have a great weekend!
