Focusing on a unique program at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, "Mothers of Bedford" explores the effects of a long-term prison sentence on five mothers and their children, asking if it's possible to become a better parent while serving time. McShane also keeps a sharp eye on the dramatic family stories that unfold over time, revealing the challenges that emerge at every juncture of a life that's been bowed by the prison system. Q&A Nov. 15: filmmaker Jenifer McShane, advocate Bobby Blanchard, film editor Toby Shimin, followed by a reception. |
