Description: The young musicians of Ensemble ACJW--all of whom are fellows or alumni of The Academy's postgraduate program--open their Weill Recital Hall series this season with a concert that includes a chamber-music favorite by Tchaikovsky. While at work in Florence on his opera Queen of Spades in 1890, Tchaikovsky wrote out a melody and put it aside; back in St. Petersburg, he used that tune in the splendid slow movement of his sextet Souvenir de Florence.
