Initially, Brooklyn Museum's online community was asked to rate, by viewing for literally a second or less, a series of classical Indian paintings, prompted by questions regarding appeal, controversial nature, and overall quality in a timed trial. The results appear in this exhibition along with an explanation of how participants derived their responses. Split Second was inspired by author Malcolm Gladwell's work and offers a glimpse into how people respond to what they know, what they're asked, and what they are told about an object in question.
reOrder: An Architectural Environment by Situ Studio - Brooklyn Museum

Brooklyn-based design firm Situ Studio has taken over the Museum's 10,000-square-foot hall on the first floor and puts a very different take on the collonaded space, reimagining it with stretched fabric canopies and integrated furnishings that swell, expand, and augment the profile of the existing monumental columns. Children will be captivated by the looming structures and fabrics, and their interplay with light and shadows.
