November 23-25 Happy Thanksgiving! Turkey Waddles, Magnificent Trees, a Feeding Frenzy, and Family Holiday Shows |

Of course turkey is one of America's favorite Thanksgiving food, but did you know stuffing ranks second? Whether you cook your dressing inside the turkey or have it as a side dish (it's a 50-50 in the country), the important thing is you're enjoying the meal surrounded by family and friends from near and far with old or new traditions. Turkey Waddles: Take the long weekend to share quality time with the nieces, nephews, and siblings you may only get to see this time of year. Round up the family to enjoy the crisp weather with a stroll through the New York Botanical Garden's Magnificent Trees or Wave Hill's Garden Highlights Walk. Other forest preserves and nature centers will host The Great Turkey Walk-Off, Walk Off the Turkey Gut, or the Thanksgiving Weekend Waddle so you can exercise with your family. Giving Thanks with Honest Abe + Live Animals: Continue the Thanksgiving celebration learning history with President Abe Lincoln, or learning about live animals with the animals of the Wildlife Education Center. Meet a 21-foot-long albino burmese python, Fantasia, at a Feeding Frenzy, or help feed the animal ambassadors of Teatown Lake Reservation at Animal Feast. Elsewhere, for older kids interested in marine biology, learn about how you can help rescuse sea turtles.
Hands On! Put on your detective hat and go on a scavenger hunt at the DiMenna Children's History Museum, or create a train station inspired by Grand Central Station. Also be part of magic tricks during "Aha Real Magic." Show Stoppers: The holiday season calls for visits to the theater with classic shows like The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol. Enjoy song and dance from Angelina Ballerina, or catch Disney's Belle and Beast in a Magical Christmas. Plus see the art behind the new animated film, "The Rise of the Guardians." Lisa Chung
