Young animal lovers don't need to be told to be kind to animals, but it certainly doesn't hurt to send a reminder now and then. The National Association for Humane and Environmental Education (NAHEE) has recently released the Color Me KIND Set, a trio of coloring books teaching children about kindness and respect for animals, responsible pet ownership, and safety around dogs. Each 32-page book features large, easy-to-color pictures on reproducible-quality paper. (To encourage bilingual language skills, the books also offer text in both English and Spanish). The set includes "How to Be a Helping Hand for Dogs and Cats", "Sharing Our World with Wildlife", and "Play It Safe with Dogs". The NAHEE has also created a "Pocket Pack" of three small kid-friendly books on natural science: "The KIND News Book of Critter Clues", "The KIND News Book of Critter Views", and "Dr. Kind Answers Kids' Questions About Animals". Color Me KIND costs $8 for the set, or $3 each. The Pocket Pack costs $7 per set, or $2.50 each. Postage and handling are included in the price. To order, call (860) 434-8666, or go to www.nahee.org.
