GINGERBREAD TOWN - BRONX

   As part of the annual Gingerbread Adventures program at the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden at the New York Botanical Garden, renowned New York area bakers display their creations of an entire “town” where gingerbread people go about their day. There’s a bakery where the gingerbread people work icing cakes and baking cookies; a barnyard scene with a farmer, haystacks and farm animals; a firehouse with firemen, a fire truck and children playing in the snow; a grand ballroom where gingerbread people are dressed in tuxedos and gowns and dance on a moving dance floor; and an upside-down house that the gingerbread people are attempting to turn around. Kids can also step inside a larger-than-life model of a decorated gingerbread house, and make their own creations, learning about all the spices and plant parts, like cinnamon and ginger root, that make up a classic gingerbread recipe.
