Description: Come to Wave Hill in the Bronx to see the Hive Culture: Captivated by the Honeybee exhibit. Join an exhibition interpreter for one of our regularly scheduled gallery tours. Through painting, sculpture, photography and video, 18 artists share their fascination with honeybees, and in raising awareness of the importance of bees to nature, agriculture and environmental health. Also on view is an installation in Wave Hill's Sunroom Project Space: Sreshta Rit Premnath creates a pillbox containing a miniature garden of plants that are being contested by various "biopiracy" taskforces around the world. Tours take place Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the month.
Venue Description: See natural beauty at its finest at Wave Hill, the 28-acre public garden and cultural center in the Bronx. Overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades, Wave Hill's true view lies in the park's magnificent gardens and landscapes. Horticulture and the arts programs for children, teenagers, and teachers are hosted by Wave Hill. Its grounds serve as living laboratories for science exploration. A memorable and scenic venue location, the Wave Hill House, built in 1843, is available for meetings, conferences, celebrations, and photo shoots. Wave Hill House was home to many celebrated icons, including Theodore Roosevelt and Mark Twain.
On weekends from 10am-1pm, the whole family can enjoy with a naturally creative Family Art Project. Wave Hill's visual arts program presents artworks in the galleries and on the grounds that engage the public in a dialogue with nature, culture, and site.
