Description: Nicholas Nace is proud to present the next round of his new open stage Tuesday October 4th and 18th at 10pm. The show will be held at the historic 116 MacDougal (formerly the Gaslight) at 116 MacDougal Street New York, NY 10012. Featured acts will include poet, performance artist and three time Mr. Lower East Side Moonshine Shorey (voted “Bartender You’d Most Like to Screw” by the NYPress in 2006, ElectroPunk madman JuggerNut recently featured in SPIN Magazine, Comedian and social commentator Remick Benice and well known troubadour Brer Brian.

There is no cover and no drink minimum for this event. Musician and producer Nicholas Nace has been capturing the sounds of the New York City underground for over a decade as a documentarian and avid contributor to downtown open mic scene. He is a member of the band A BRIEF VIEW OF THE HUDSON (name Best Fold Duo by the NYPress in 2005). Radio Amateur Open Stage is a tribute to the non-traditional artists and performers who are the unsung heroes of NYC’s art scene providing 8 minutes of no-strings-attached stage time to anyone wishing perform or pontificate. Radio Amateur Open Stage takes Nicholas Nace’s passion for producing to the next level with it’s corresponding podcast RadioAmateurNYC available at radioamateurnyc.com. Nicholas’s most recent projects include the musical score for TELL YOUR FRIENDS: The Concert Film (2010) featuring comedians Liam McEneaney, Kristen Schall, and Reggie Watts and the Art Star Sounds Compilation (2005) featuring Andy Warhol superstar Taylor Mead, and antifolk heroes Kimya Dawson and Langhorn Slim

Nicholas Nace has a knack for cultivating community and documenting the underground art scene in a way that is both ethnographic and entertaining. As one fan put it, Nace’s events create “an almost unbearable concentration of twisted words and sounds that seep into peripheral awareness. Proudly exalting a voice of dissent, a call to arms, a blatant exploitation of deviant culture refusing soul-surrender to the limits of expression.” –RAYMOND SANCHEZ. Sacramento, CA
