Description: The Metropolitan Room welcomes jazz singer Kelley Suttenfield this fall on four consecutive Mondays at 7pm: 9/19, 9/26/ 10/3 and 10/10, in a series called “Mondays with the Masters.” Each Monday, Suttenfield will pair her offbeat, jazz-storytelling style with a different guitar master, including Howard Alden on 10/10. The complete lineup is below. Suttenfield released her debut CD, "Where is Love?" in 2009. "Here’s a singer with a lot of great ideas, and the ability to deliver them. It’s her debut disc, and the closest thing I can compare it to is Madeleine Peyroux’s debut Dreamland, way back when. It’s got the same feel...Give me more!" George W. Harris, Jazz Weekly. Suttenfield, New York based with Southern roots, is known internationally for her unusual spin on American music, the Beatles, Brazilian and beyond. She expanded her fan base recently to London, where she debuted at Ronnie Scott's in January 2011. The guitarist lineup is strong and eclectic: Joe Carbone (9/19): Carbone is known as a singers' accompanist, he counts Sammy Davis Jr., Frankie Laine and 60's idol Bobby Rydell among his favorite gigs; Tony Romano (9/26): prolific NYC player who has toured worldwide and played with many Latin, Jazz and Pop artists including Stanley Jordan and Randy Brecker: Vic Juris (10/3): Vic has traveled far and wide with the likes of Jimmy Smith, Sarah Vaughan, Chico Hamilton, Dave Liebman, Richie Cole and Mel Torme, to name only a few greats; and Howard Alden (10/10): Alden needs little intro, but has been described as "may be the best of his generation" by JazzTimes. Bassist Matt Aronoff, whose credits include gigs with Luciana Souza at the Kennedy Center and Birdland with Peter Eldridge, joins every Monday every Monday.
