Description: Dawn Powell (1896-1965) came to New York from Ohio to be a writer. Though never wildly successful, she wrote some 20 novels and articles, and she mingled with the leading lights of the literary and art worlds of her time. Her novels – several of them wickedly satirical evocations of New York life – have been rediscovered by a new generation of readers who have recognized in her one of the very best of New York writers. Join Municipal Art Society for a tour that will take in her life and works, as well as the Village of her time. The tour will be led by architectural historian Francis Morrone.
