Description: Conductor Matthias Pintscher will lead pianist Emanuel Ax, musicians from the New York Philharmonic, mezzo-soprano Tamara Mumford, and tenor Russell Thomas in a chamber orchestra arrangement of Mahler's wrenching Das Lied von der Erde (The Song of the Earth), a musical setting of poems about the transience of life. Although he completed the score in 1908, the composer did not live to hear it performed. At Rose Theater.
