Description: The annual winter break from school can be a great opportunity to keep curiosity alive for young children and bring inspiration even on a cold, wintery day. The New York Botanical Garden is offering the first-ever Winter Science Camp, a full five days of daily discoveries and hands-on fun for kids ages 8-10 years old. This year's theme, Plant Pioneers, will focus on investigating the fascinating world of plants as inspired by plant pioneer, George Washington Carver. Plant Pioneers will provide playful and creative opportunities for children to participate in exciting experiments, hand-on activities, and fun science games and crafts. Highlights of the children's activities will include running their own experiments, exploring the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, making paint from plants, and riding on the Garden's tram. February 20-24, from 9am-4pm. Extended care is available from 8-9am, and from 4-5:30pm for an additional fee. Space is limited. Call 718-817-8181 to register.
